Time for the annual promo photo for Eastern Carolina’s best local band!

Colour Academy

My cousins, Cliff and Brian are in a great band named Colour Academy. They started adding Eastern North Carolina to their touring schedule a couple of years ago, so they come through every so often and play. When they do, we get to host them in our guest house. The kids LOVE it. This past week, they’ve been in town to audition a new bass player (someone who attended one of their Goldsboro concerts!)… and before they had to hit the road, we took them upstairs (above the studio) to get some really cool shots in the vintage location.

Rachel & Ed :: Engagement

Categories: Uncategorized | 1 Comment

I have this… problem. I absorb accents. I’ve done this all my life. There are some really embarrassing stories  I could tell you that center around me and someone from a different country (or a different part of my own country). I don’t MEAN to do it… and I’m certainly not trying to make fun of how people talk. I just… morph. And the sad part is, I don’t even realize I’m doing it until the person I’m with says something like, “What are you doing? Why are you talking like that?”… and there I am with a sheepish smile on my face as I try to explain myself. :D

So today, when I knew I was going to be meeting with Rachel and her BRITISH fiancé, Ed… I did everything in my power to stay from Mississippi. And I think it worked! Here’s hoping I can do it at the wedding, when I’ll be surrounded by his very English family!

ANYWAY… speaking issues aside, I absolutely adore this couple! (omgosh, I typed that with a British accent)

First Wedding of the Year!

Last weekend we kicked off the new year with an AMAZING couple, Kelly & Scott Lineberger! You may recognize that last name… it’s been on our blog a lot over the last year and a half. This family has yet to disappoint us. From Chris and Krystal to Beth & Alex to Jason & Jessica (with little Gabby!)… and now the latest! We’ve had an ever growing list of Linebergers to come through our doors! And with their expanding families, there’s even more to come!

But back to Saturday… it was the most PERFECT day! Sunny and hovering in the mid-80’s… could it GET any better? God tested our faith a bit in earlier days because the weather people couldn’t agree on the chance of rain, but in the end, He pulled out all the stops for Kelly & Scott! And we thank Him for it! :D

You want to see pictures don’t you? No one reads anything I say… ;)

Jessica (aka: Sarah) and Justin

Categories: Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Okay… I admit it. I couldn’t keep her name straight to save my life! And I can’t even EXPLAIN why I called her Sarah! Other than the fact that she looked like one (to me). I would have been really embarrassed if she hadn’t laughed at me the whole time. I typically don’t have this problem… I’m GOOD with names! But man… today my brain was just mush! Luckily, regardless of what I called her, this shoot was so much FUN! They’re SUCH a laid-back couple… it made for some really easy image makin’. They have cornered the market on “stand over there and nuzzle”. No awkwardness… just loooove. And what better place than New Bern to set the stage! This is where Justin proposed… right on the waterfront. So we started there and moved on through town as the afternoon went on. It felt and looked like Spring… and maybe that was what made it so great. Spring Fever at it’s best! :)

And now… just for kicks… an “out-take” that I like to call, “Ode to Tippy Hedren” from the movie, The Birds! :D

Ashley & Jeffrey

Such a sweet couple… and better than that? They’re from KINSTON! It’s always great to get a local wedding! We spend so much of our time out of town or out of state, that we forget how easy it can be when we’re right in our own backyard! So we’re really looking forward to their big day! It was especially nice to shoot their engagement pictures around town since it’s their stomping grounds… it means the scenery is just that much more special to them!

A little shot of my Jeffy gettin’ our new ring angle. :D

Elizabeth & Bryan…

We love this couple. Plain and simple. I met Elizabeth back when we shot a wedding in 2006… she was a bridesmaid.  I remember thinking that day, boy, I hope she hires us when she gets engaged… cause she’s so PRETTY! Over the last three years, we’ve done shoots for her family and for Bryan, so the connection held until he popped the question! I tried to get their friends to tell him to call me when he proposed and I’d cover the engagement, too… but either his friends failed me, or he wanted something more intimate. Regardless, at lease I’ve got them now! :D
