Busy Little Elves…

I’m beginning to hallucinate from lack of sleep… but at least it’s cute little smiling kids dancing in my head and not something as nasty as sugar plums. We’ve had a hectic week of shoots and even though there’s NO way to blog about every single one of them, I wanted to have SOMETHING to show off on here! So, here are a few random images that I chose by spinning in a circle and throwing a nerf dart at the hard drive. Hum a little Christmas tune while you scroll through, mkay? :D

Vintage Fun

When a bride tells me she’s up for anything, you just never know what that might lead to! In Katie’s case, it led to tossing her in a claw foot tub. :D After my traditional processing was done, I still felt they lacked something to make them pop with the kind of drama I had in my head. This is when I decided to try a little texture love. I don’t always like it when photographers over-do these sort of things. But sometimes? Sometimes they really work. And that’s how I feel about these shots. It’s just the sort of vintage feel that I was going for!

Elizabeth & Ross

Christmas rush is ON, people! We’re so back-logged! But I finished processing my last October wedding and was excited that this one shot I grabbed worked the way I wanted it to work! See, we were so nervous that it would rain all day… but when it was time for the couple’s shots together, it couldn’t have been prettier! Then I realized I was catching a rainbow sun flare… and thought, “How great is God! We asked for a nice day and he shows us He heard!”

Sweet Reminder

I WON!!!

You may not believe me, but I’m quite certain that little Hudson had it in his mind to foil all my plans for a family shoot today. I’ve never deleted so many motion blurred pictures in my LIFE! Oh, but in the end? I totally beat him at his own game! Mom, Dad and big brother Ben were so patient and kept such great attitudes the whole time… which really helped ME stay focused. It’s no good if I’m having to calm Mama down, too! I can tell that this family is TONS of fun… why else would Husdon want to play so much?!?! :D

First, a few of Dad running after the boy!

And now? My trophies. :D

We hit the studio in the end and got several sweet ones. I loved this one best. :)

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Even in our studio!! And you KNOW that I’m not a prop girl. Ordinarily, I despise having anything other than people in my shots… but every once in a while, I get inspired to do something out of the box, even for me. Today, we had some fun with Christmas ornaments. And it was exactly what Caroline needed to burst out of her shell! Isn’t it adorable?!?! We ought to get some great Christmas card use out of THIS one! :D

Of course, we had some great non-prop fun, too… just to prove that sometimes,
Mamas and Daddies are all you REALLY need in order to have a good time. :D

So here’s the deal…

You all have this… image… in your head of what a Christmas card should look like. I want you to do your best to toss it out the window! Think about how we can do things differently for you! The whole amazing deal behind me hiring a Graphic Artist is so we can customize until our hearts content! Did you have several shots that you loved, and couldn’t decide on one to use? Then consider our new “assortment” cards! We can blend several images together and give you a unique look with lots of variety!

Check back in and maybe I’ll have something TOTALLY different for you to see!

Better yet, call the studio and get us to do one for YOU! :)

Quick Shoots & Christmas Cards

Okay!! I think we’ve made it where we can add another day or two of Quick Shoots! We don’t want to turn anyone away! So if you think you’d like to rush in and spend 15 minutes and $25, then call Courtney and let her know! Right now we’ve added November 18th to the schedule, and if it fills up as fast as past dates, then well add another! Those of you who already have dates in December, don’t worry, you WILL have your images up in time for gift orders and Christmas cards. So, stay where you are! :D

Which segues nicely into the reminder that we offer custom designed Christmas cards. Katelyn is over here chomping at the bit to get some more going. The prices are $1 per card (4×6 print) and a $25 fee for the design, with a minimum order of 40 cards. You can also bulk order plain 4×6 prints @ $2 per image if you’re wanting to insert them into cards that you already have. Just let us know and we’ll get whatever you need. For those who’ve already had their shoots, I suggest you get your orders in before the rush hits! :D

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! :D

William Lee :: Age Two

I’ve been shooting William Lee since he was born. This is one of those families that started with us when we were back in the studio apartment with muslin backdrops. Lord, help us! This kid just gets cuter every time they bring him in! Add a cork-screw curled cousin in the mix and it was just adorable over-load! I had to work hard for those smiles! A little Christmas ornament cheer turned baseball pitching and he was happy as a clam. But when he was done? He was DONE! :D

Ryder :: Hanging at the Club

Other than weddings, I’ve not done any photography at the local Country Club. So I was excited to have the opportunity to meet up with little Ryder and his mom while the leaves were still all golden and full of color. I almost said “full of life”, but… you know. Kinda funny how things that are that close to death can be so pretty! Now I’ve gone and made this post all deep and poetic. Didn’t mean to do that! Back to Ryder! He wasn’t all that impressed with my camera and me… but we managed to get some great shots. He’s such a beautiful little boy… those lips and eyes! Heartbreak city one day!!

If it were MY house, this would be GIGANTIC on the wall. The sun… the cuteness!

This is when you know it’s over. :D

Get-Away Weekend… well, part of one. :D

Every once in a while, we come across a client that we adopt as friends, too. Jennifer and Jamie fall into that category. I shot their wedding last year and we’ve had opportunities to eat out a few times since then. But this weekend we went so far as to take an overnight trip together to Beaufort (staying in her great-uncle’s guest house on the waterfront). Partly, it was so that we could shoot an anniversary session with them. But mostly, it was just to have fun. We even took the kids! And Mabry totally crushed out on Jamie the whole time. It was cute. He’s officially an “uncle” now. How appropriate they his last name is “Mabe” and that’s what we call Mabry half the time! Anyway, I think we’ll be making them go on all of our vacations now… we enjoyed their company THAT much!

Here are some of my favorites:

Jen and Jackson

Mabry saved a fish that got washed ashore! Ha! :D

I didn’t INTEND for them to get wet. :|

Just the girls… and a lighthouse.

Isn’t my daughter pretty?! :D

Mabe and Uncle Jamie ;)

Mabe and Jen playing “talking hands”.
